Why Are Certain Massachusetts Homes Still Selling At Ridiculously High Prices?


Franklin is a very affordable town and the tax rate is very reasonable.  We have beautiful industrial parks and the industry in the town of Franklin helps tremendously to keep the tax rate affordable for the town residents.

This question was posed by a buyer couple regarding their expectation that the recent recession wouldMassachusetts sign affect home prices in all areas…as in the towns they want to live in.  It has been difficult for them to realize that certain metro west of Boston towns have held their value so well that there has been very little depreciation.  This translates to the harsh reality that purchasing in very desirable towns just outside of Boston means paying a high price to have the opportunity to live here.

An recent article in The Boston Globe online reveals both assessed property values and tax rates for the entire state of Massachusetts.  The percent change in both tax rates and assessed values is also shown with an interactive map so the reader can pinpoint specific communities based on the selected tax year.

The data reveals that the town of Franklin, MA falls just at the midpoint as far as tax rates go.  Franklin has a current 2010 tax rate of $11.07 per $1000 of assessed value.  The town is located 45 south west of Boston and is far more affordable than towns that are bordering the city.
