Tell me you are not a bridge burner?

” I am bringing in an offer ” yes…it’s music to the ears of the listing agent  I received that phone call the other day and yes I was thrilled ..not only because we have had the seller’s condo on the market for a number of months but because it is being written up by one of my favorite agents.. 

Let me tell you…this is one professional, respectful agent.  What a difference it makes to work with someone, as he puts it  “Were gonna make this happen –  all stops are  out and what ever it takes…we are going to make it happen. we will work together to get it done”.

The bottom line a ……happy buyer…a happy seller and two very happy agents

So often you hear of agents going for the jugular .  I will never understand the why of it.

Have you ever had an agent call for an appointment and cringe because you know if they are on the opposite side …the whole transaction  will end up a nightmare.

Dog gone it…it takes the LOVE right out of Real Estate….and we have no choice iwhat agent we work with…not if we are working in the best interest of our clients.

There are some agents, and boy do I hate to admit this, that forget it is not about THEM.

Decisions are made by the clients. The agent is not in control…their clients are.

I have been in situations where the clients own agent  causes the loss of a contract. Man

Our clients deserve the best possible representation they can get. 

Why, and thank heaven it is a few, that take this responsibility too lightly.

There is nothing in Real Estate that is to be taken lightly. 

  • We work with legal binding documents
  • We work with clients who depend and trust us as professionals. 
  • We have a fiducuary duty to our clients
  • We as Realtors adhere to a Code of Ethics
  • To most of these sellers is their life savings…their big asset…a lot of money on the line.
  • To the buyer, usually a long term 30 year commitment with a ton of money paid toward their purchase at the end of 25 or 30 years
  • A buyer 30 years old will pay over and over again for that home and reach 60 years old before it is it is his.

Do agents approach this with empathy and seriousness of agency, respect and diligence?…..most do…but the few that don’t…..try this…….. ..treat others with the same respect you want to be treated with….It”s not only a rule to follow for a successful real estate career but an valuable rule of life…In this business we are to build bridges not burn them.

After living in Walpole, MA for many years, our family was transferred to the west coast when I was a senior in high school. In 1983, I graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California. I am also a 1987 graduate of Providence College with a major in liberal arts and a minor in business administration.
