Buyers, Don’t Throw Your Realtor to the Sharks. He Really is on Your Side

I know it can get frustrating when you are looking to purchase a home, or Overboardeven lease one, and you just can’t seem, to find that perfect place.

Who do you blame?  Let’s see.  Who is directly in the line of fire?  Oh yes, your realtor!

They have not shown you a home you would consider buying. 

Question: Why is that do you think?  Are they holding back?  Did they find it and buy it themselves?  Did they find it and show it to another buyer, one they like more?

Answer:  No.  The inventory of new listings is low right now.  What is sitting on the market are homes that have become somewhat stale, either because they are overpriced or just not that attractive for one reason or another.  But also, be honest, maybe you were being too picky.

You found a home you love and made an offer, but you did not get it.

Question: Why?  Because your realtor is inept and could not negotiate on your behalf? Because your realtor somehow didn’t get across to the Seller that you are the best buyers for the property?  Because your realtor made a mistake?

Answer:  No.  Dig deep.  Your realtor advised you to make your offer a little higher but you decided that yours was a good offer?  Your realtor told you that there were others interested in the property and that all the stops needed to be pulled out to shine above the others? Your realtor did the best that he or she could under the circumstances.  Know that when a home comes up that you love, there will be others who love it also.

Question: Do you think you will get better results with another realtor?

Answer:  No.  Chances are your realtor has done the best that they can given today’s market conditions.  
Don’t jump ship in the middle of the ocean.  The next ship that comes along is going to take you to the same destination as the first, and you have to admit you were treated well there.  Let’s complete the voyage together.
