Do You Have A Business Plan In Place Or Is Everyday An Impromptu???

Preparing a business plan and setting goals are essential tasks for every real estate agent.

Via Barbara Todaro (RE/MAX Executive Realty in Franklin, Ma):

Where do you want to be in 5 years?  Do you have a business plan that will assist you in getting there?  I can remember when I was a fairly new agent at Century 21 in Franklin (when God was a child) and enrolling in every course that was offered through the Century 21 system.  They did have great training for newly licensed agents.  One of the best courses that I completed was preparing a five year business plan.  To this day, I continue to utilize that format, and I do have a plan and many methods in place to get there.  I think it stems from my first career as a teacher and preparing lesson plans for the year.  Just as real estate is not on a “wing and a prayer” neither was teaching.

Everyone in business needs to put a plan in place.  These are not just short range goals.  This is a plan that fully describes every step of the way during a five year journey to reach that ultimate target.  Business cannot and should not be designed in a one day at a time format.  Do you know where you want to be in five years, and, if so, how will you get there?  You need to ask yourself that question and then find the answer and create a plan.  It’s just good business.

My husband and I have built five homes and I've lived in a variety of other locations including Toronto Canada, Irving Texas and my current home in Franklin, MA. As a result of all my moving around, I came to the conclusion that I was an expert at moving...why not become an expert on the other side of the table? I earned my real estate license in 2004 and believe that I have found my true niche'. I can empathize with my clients on a variety of levels; whether they are buying or selling. And, like so many other good realtors out there, I believe that possessing good communication skills is one of the many keys to success.
